Richard McKay (formerly from Vancouver and now at King's College, London) will talk about the truth behind the media's creation of Patient Zero, the original AIDS flash point, Gaétan Dugas. Rich's presentation will use rare images and oral history clips, and draw out the aspects of the Randy Shilts and Dugas stories, quit different from those depicted in Shilt's book And the Band Played On (1987).

Thomas Lounge, Oakham House, 63 Gould St
