About the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives

The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (CLGA) aspires to be a significant resource and catalyst for those who strive for a future world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered (LGBT) people are accepted, valued and celebrated.

We will build on our position as the leading treasury and destination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered (LGBT) heritage in Canada and as a leader within a global community of similar institutions.  We serve all who seek to discover the LGBT communities' stories including our ongoing struggle for understanding, acceptance and equality.

We appreciate and honour the dedication and contribution of our volunteers, employees, members and supporters.

We value and respect the impartiality of our non-profit and charitable status.

We cherish the diversity of the LGBT communities.

We embrace the best professional practices related to the acquisition, preservation and accessibility of our treasures.

We foster strategic partnerships to expand our reach and knowledge creation, both physically and on the internet, from our home in Toronto to the rest of Canada and the world.
